We were trilled to welcome Miss Pennsylvania’s Teen, Lizzie Lizzie Shacklett to our Reading Room in the Discovery Room.
Here is what she shared with us about her visit.
Thank you so much to the Cops n’ Kids Reading Room of Easton for inviting me to participate in your literacy program!
I had the best time reading “Bee”, as well as my own book, “I Read Before Bed”, to the children and families of ProJeCt.
We followed up story time with some crafts, and I loved helping the kids create paper bumblebees and make their own bookmarks to use while reading!
Each child took home 5 books from the Reading Room’s library, as well as a signed copy of my children’s book, to continue reading at home.
The best part of this appearance was when I started speaking Chinese with one of the little girls. She couldn’t believe her ears and was so excited that Miss Pennsylvania’s Teen spoke Mandarin, too!
Cops n’ Kids ensures that all children have access to books, meaningful literacy-based experiences, and the inspiration that literature provides. I am so grateful to play a part in their mission to “connect kids and community through literacy.”
